Who is Jay Cutler's Sercret Weapon for Wininng the 2009 Mr Olympia ?
Interview with Lisa Balash , owner of Elite Physiques kettlebell studio , located in Las Vegas.
Q - When did you first see a Kettlebell?
A - I first saw a KettleBell in 2006 at a Pilate’s studio .
I began training myself for the 2006 Figure Nationals in Las Vegas and I was trying to change my look of overly muscular to more of a lean, longer look. I then decided to add the kbells and Pilates together to create my trademarked Kettle-lates training system and I transformed myself by taking off 20lbs and lengthening out my muscles.
Q – What kind of results did you get from Kettlebells?
A - I used the kettlebells for 40 min 2-3 days per week and was having trouble keeping the weight on,
It was literally melting off of me. The results were phenomenal! Everyone started commenting on how much they loved my new look.
After that I decided to get certified to teach kettlebells and share with everyone this awesome training tool. I soon became a certified instructor with IKFF and opened my studio Elite Physiques here in Vegas.
Q – Does Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler use Kettlebells?
A - Yes, Jay Cutler has been a client of mine and we are focusing on his Mr. . Olympia comeback win in 2009.
Jay likes the cardio challenge of KB’s and also the results for the glute ham tie in seperation . We do combine swings, Turkish getups along with Snatches for timed sets of 2-3 min each side. Jay is going to bring a brand new and unbeatable package to the Olympia stage this year !
I am also training IFBB Pro Figure competitor Elaine Goodlad for her upcoming Europa show in April. She is using kettlebells 2 days a week and she will be on an upcoming reality show that will follow her training and competing. So we should see her snatching on tv in the near future!
Q - Why do you Love Kettlebells ?
A - I love kbells because they are efficient and effective.
I love teaching because its fun for clients they love the results that they get and the challenge of the mind body connection.
It is very similar to Pilates in the fact that you have to be in the moment and core is always being used!!
Thank you for the interview, now Im off to train Mrs. Cutler, Jay’s wife, who also looks phenomenal!

KettleBell Body Transformation Success
Q & A with KettleBell Success Story Lysias Harris
Q - When did you first see a Kettlebell?
A -I first saw a kettlebell when I started training with my friend Ryan Shanahan
Q -Describe your first time picking up kettlebell and / or your first work out?
A -The first time I worked out with a kettlebell was a learning experience to say the least. I was used to working out with free weights were the key is slow controlled movements so I had to retrain myself to the speed and cardio involved in a kettlebell workout.
Q -What is your favorite kettlebell exercise ?
A -Probably the “clean and press” just because I have the most comfort with it, but the ones that challenge you the most have the best effect.
Q -Why do you Love Kettlebells ?
A -They are always a challenge and there are so many variations. A kettlebell workout involves your whole body, every muscle gets involved in the workout and the next day you feel it in places you don’t even realize you were working out. You think you’re in good shape until you do an intense kettlebell workout and you’re completely out of breath at the end. Also whenever you start to get to comfortable with your workout there is always new ways to change it up.

Nathan Donahue is not a KettleBell Trainer
Meet Nathan Donahue , Software sales manager .
Nathan is not a trainer, he just really loves the benefits of kettlebells.
We caught up with Nathan in Calgary, to find out why he says Kettlebell Workouts are quick, challenging, can be done at home, and most of all effective!
Q -Describe your first time picking up kettlebell and / or your first work out …
A - When I first got my 35lbs kettlebell in 2001 , I was really excited (it was a lot of money for a poor university grad to spend). I ran down stairs, busted out the "Russian Kettlebell Challenge" book and started doing the drills. I really, really sucked at first both in terms of form and conditioning ( I was fat). But even though I sucked I just loved it. Blasting music and swinging this giant ball around. I was hooked! I lost 26lbs of fat in four weeks! I was losing weight so fast my sister actually did a double take of me one time in the kitchen.
Q -What is #1 favorite kettlebell exercise ?
A - These days I would say the kettlebell arm-bar is my favourite. I have spent the last 15 years of my life benching and squatting and shoulders are tight as hell. Arm-bars make my shoulders feel 10 years younger. Overall I don't think you can beat kettlebell juggling. It is great conditioning and works the grip like mad!
Q -Why do you Love Kettlebells ?
A -Kettlebells are the perfect compliment to any training regime! They lean you out, improve explosiveness, strength, power, and mobility. They are fun, convenient and for a full service home gym...small and cheap! All this and you can still practice your given sport 100%. I am a powerlifter, I hit the barbell 4x week, and can still use kettlebells very frequently. This goes for any athlete as well, be they endurance athletes or team sports.
I attend a kettlebell class taught my Marty Hansen (http://m-2sport.ca) twice per week because I can't coach myself. I just do the same damn drills all the time without Marty. Also, my fiance can't train alone or at home so the classes are perfect for her, she loves them! Since discovering kettlebells she has toned up and gained a lot of confidence.

Q&A with Kettlebell Trainer Charlotte Ord
Charlotte has had National and International success in five different sports and her passion and commitment for fitness has lead her to becoming one of the U.K’s top KettleBell trainers.
We recently caught up with Charlotte to ask her why she loves KettleBells …..
Q -Describe your first kettlebell experience.
A – My first kettlebell experience was during my initial instuctor training and I was instantly fascinated by both the dynamic nature and total body challenge posed by the movement patterns of the foundation exercises.
Q -What is your favorite kettlebell exercise?
A - My favorite exercise is the snatch, for a number of reasons.
It challenges the entire body including the core, thereby spreading load over a number of joints as opposed to just a couple, as is the case in activities such as running, thus reducing the risk of injury. Its ability to accelerate metabolism is huge & hence a key exercise for incorporation into fat loss intervals, and it encourages coordinated movement of the body which lends itself directly to efficient power transference & is therefore an ideal exercise for athletes looking to become more efficient. I also think it is a superb exercise for women, as it activates the posterior chain muscles (back, glutes, hamstrings,) which are notoriously weak in females.
Q -Why do you Love Kettlebells ?
A - The thing I love most about kettlebell training is the fact that it allows you to combine resistance training with cardiovascular activity, thus providing a super efficient work out. I love the kettlebell's dynamic quality, and it's superior ability to improve stability, flexibility and strength in one hit. I was recently nominated as runner up for the Maximuscle Body of 2008 competition & owe my lean yet super-strong physique largely to kettlebell training.
As a coach my job is to get my trainee's results as fast as possible, and kettlebells help me do exactly that.

Q - When did you first see a kettlebell?
A -The first time that I saw a Kb was on internet and
it was love at first sight and since then I can’t live without them .
Q -What is your favorite kettlebell exercise ?
A -My favourite exercise among the “classic” exercises, is for sure the Snatch…
The Snatch is a power and an intensity without equal exercise, for sure, I adore it.
But I love a lot to experiment ;)
Q -Why do you Love kettlebells ?
A -I could never not love KBs !!!
I believe that the Kb workout is today the best conceivable training and not only for The big benefits in to sculpt our bodies and those of our clients, to lose weight or to unbelievably increase our strength…but especially for psychological factors that it gives.
To train with a Kb is a continuous challenge…a perfect simulation of the life ….to win against a Kb, to express ourselves in gestures that up to a little before you believed impossible for your body….it’s mean to be able to win in every field of the life.!!!
You can win or you can be defeated.!!!
I not only feel to recommend it to whoever wants to train as a true champion and to have results that go over own imagination but I feel it\'s my duty to recommend to all personal trainers…. an unbelievable tool, comfortable to bring anywhere, amusing to teach and to train, economic and tremendously cool.;)!!!

The KettleBell Iron Angel
Meet ‘ The Iron Angel ‘ Angelina Armstrong-Mann .
This angel is a passionate, creative and fun kettlebell instructor from Ottawa, Canada
Q- What was your first experience with KettleBells?
A - I first saw a kettlebell about 6 years ago. My brother in law who is a cop in Ottawa started using them. He loved the intense workout and was a regular gym goer and started using them in his basement!
The first time I picked up a kettlebell I couldn't believe the weight of it. I thought there was no way some one of my stature would be able to do anything with it! (the weight was 8kg) That was until I started watching Youtube and getting the moves down on my own! I started out with circuits of swings and thrusters, the odd turkish (which as mean as I am I make my girls do 3 after every circuit in my class!!) Being self-taught before doing any certification sure is a great base, learning new ways to teach is always something I enjoy!! And new exercises, every one is always inventing something harder than the usual moves!! Bring it!
Q – What is your favorite KettleBell exercise ?
A - I can't really say I have a favorite kettlebell exercise I say "this is my favorite" probably after every exercise when teaching and the girls get very annoyed with me because I do love every exercise! I would say the harder the better! Right now my favorites are probably the snatch, definitely the turkish, high pull, Juggling (LOVE IT!!) see I can't choose just one, I love them all!! Again the harder the better! LOL! (yes that was an evil laugh!)
Q- Why do you Love Kettlebells ?
A - Why do I love kettlebells?? They are so much fun, there is always something new you can do with them, they work your whole body, they are so transportable! I take one with me everywhere! Which is great when you have 2 kids!! The best part is that they work your whole body, which for a Mom who has a tummy to lose, they work wonders on your core!
My favorite thing about kettlebells is probably the fact that I now have extremely toned shoulders. Abs is a long lasting battle, if only we could refrain from alcohol, great food (which is usually not great for the mid section!) Thankfully kettlebells use the core in every move, and we don't even realize it!! Hopefully some day I will work hard enough to compete in some sort of fitness/physique type challenge, using only kettlebells is my goal!
I truly enjoy teaching kettlebells, I've been teaching bootcamp classes for 5 years, mixing in kettlebells was the smartest thing I ever did!!
I typically teach in doors no thanks to our wonderful Canadian climate. Outdoors on a riverbank is where I prefer, but until spring I'm locked up in a mirrored high school weight room! I put my lovely ladies through timed circuits of only the most challenging yet fun (they're all fun) moves 3 evenings a week!! I must say they all love it, as they keep coming back and inviting their friends! I recently ran my first ad, in the free local paper (free to the public, no free ad for me!) Calls have been coming in! I've had 3 new comers, should be more this evening ,most haven't even heard of kettlebells, and are intrigued to try them!
My classes consist of an hour (we always go over) warm up, 2-3 circuits each exercise lasting up to 1 min, constantly perfecting form, executing each move perfectly! Then an ab cool down and stretch, stretch, stretch! The conversation and comradery is awesome, I couldn't ask for a better bunch of girls. Still looking for some men interested in hosting a class, I recently picked up a class at a public school consisting of teachers; first class was yesterday hoping to make a weekly thing out of it!!! They seemed to love it! It's such a great alternative for women to weights!!
Classes are held at Carleton Place High School
Monday 7:30-8:30
Tuesday 7:00-8:00
Thursday 7:30-8:30
I also do corporate, I will travel anywhere pretty much within the Ottawa area, Lanark county area where I live!!
Have a great day!
